As you learn to become a wedding professional through classes, you need to learn in the real world. Getting practical experience is key to providing services to weddings but can be one of the most difficult aspects of crossing from trainee to professional.
That is why AfWPi developed the Student Membership. As a student, being a member of a professional organization will help you transition into the job market and the industry you are seeking to become a part of. We are also working on a program where our Student Members will be able to connect with people who are already in the wedding business and work as interns. This will give you the real-world experience that you need.
We have also made Student Membership affordable – only $65 a year (with a one-time set-up fee of $10). This will give you access to the Regular Members of AfWPi plus your information will be listed on a special Student Page so it will be easier for those members to find you. To qualify as a Student Member you must be enrolled in a creditialing class, or a 2-4 year college program, and plan to enter the wedding industry upon graduating. Continuing education students who are currently working as wedding professionals are not eligible. You will also be required to be available as an intern for a minimum of 100 hours and agree to follow our code of ethics.
Please click on the link below for your application. If you have any questions, please let us know.
Wedding Professionals: We are in the process of locating students in each area and developing the program. If there is no student yet listed for your state or country, there will be soon. Meanwhile, please Register if you are interested in having an intern's assistance.
Each student linked here has agreed to intern for a minimum of 100 hours (200 hours if interning in another country.) Other requirements may be required. This is a current members benefit only. See below for the regular membership application.
Student members have agreed to follow our code of ethics. Please email us to confirm they are indeed a current student member.
If the student is taking a credentialing course from an organization that is a member of Afwpi they will have the association logo for that organization next to their listing.
Students: To post your resume, register on our Career Center Board
